WebYou can get some decent sounding distortion on the amp if you turn the gain up a bit, but it's really crunchy and there isn't much wiggle room for changing the sound. This amp will get the job done for practicing, but beyond that I probably wouldn't recommend using it. OVERALL OPINION WebEssentially what it is, is they have this hybrid style analog circuit matched with a solid state circuit. There still is no tubes in the amp, but it gives the feel and sound more closer to the feel and sound of real tubes overdriving. WebPeavey has had an amp model called the "Classic" non-stop for nearly 40 years, and seriously, they are ALL sleeper amps that sound good on the cheap. My personal favorite would be the dual 6L6 powered tweed Classic 50 ... the 2x12 version is good, but the 4x10 version is just plain excellent.
