The .45 Colt (11.43×33mmR), is a rimmed, straight-walled, handgun cartridge dating to 1872. It was originally a black-powder revolver round developed for the Colt Single Action Army revolver. This cartridge was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1873 and served as an official US military handgun cartridge for 14 years. I have never found a useful load that Power Pistol could not do better. I think I found one load where more LONGSHOT got wimpier the more I added.

Slower burners allow for quite a bit more speed if you want it, but the charge weights are a lot higher for the same level of performance as Longshot, and cause recoil to be noticeably greater for nearly the same velocity, IME.
